Give your energy level a boost

What are you up to this weekend? It looks like we are in for some snow, and already I feel my body craving spring, or better yet - summer. To satisfy this craving, I'll be going to a few hot yoga sessions, and drinking this Mean Green, Mango Tahini Dream when I get back - with my eyes closed, pretending I'm on a beach somewhere. It works. You should try it. 

Even in the dead of winter, when we naturally crave eating warming, grounding foods, it is still important to give your bod a boost with some raw, green love.  


Dark green leafy veggies are incredibly powerful little gems, that should be eaten on a daily basis. Once you get into the habit, it is surprisingly easy to maintain, and extremely beneficial. You will notice a big difference in your energy, your mood, and your overall feelings of wellbeing. And eventually, you will have moments in your day when your body is craving them - seriously. When I feel the least big sluggish, I instinctively go to my blender, throw in a bunch of greens, some fruit, water or nut milk, a spoonful of flax, hemp or chia seeds, and the course of my day is positively altered. 

So, greens. Why are they so awesome, you ask? To put it simply, greens are alkaline-producing foods, which means more oxygen, which means more energy, health, and vitality. Greens benefit the body in more ways than just one - they are tied to cancer prevention, blood purification, improved circulation, stronger immune systems, healthy skin, and a lifted spirit. I'll take a glass of that, please. 

Mean Green, Mango Tahini Dream 


2 c. - frozen mango, slightly thawed
1 c. - spinach, kale, or greens of choice
2 T. - tahini
1/4 c. - oats
1 T. - hemp seeds
1 T. - ground flax
1 c. or more - water


Blend. Drink. Have a rockstar, energized day.
