Date, Cinnamon & Chia Smoothie with Recipe


Have you had a morning where you wake up feeling like you've just been hit upside the head with a basket ball? That was me this morning, so I took that as my body telling me to get my butt into action. I typically go for some variation on green smoothie in the morning but the universe was pulling me in a new direction today, so I put on a little T. Swift, grabbed one of my favorite reads and made this naturally sweet Morning Date, Cinnamon and Chia smoothie.

It's creamy without feeling heavy, sweet without added sugars and you can even add a half of a scoop of vanilla protein powder if that's your thing.

  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 4-5 pitted dates
  • 1 ripe frozen banana
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. chia seeds
  • splash of vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder (optional)

Blend everything up into a beautifully satisfying treat and pour over ice to enjoy!

Prep Tip: Cut up ripe bananas in advance, toss them into a zip lock baggie and freeze them for later use - there always seems to be that last banana of the bunch that gets a little too ripe and you're like... eww now what do I do with it? Now you know.
