The first few moments of everyday will determine how much joy and success will follow you for the rest of the day. Most experts agree that by spending anywhere from 5-10 minutes each and every morning to express gratitude or to pause and goal set, will have huge impacts on your overall happiness. For the sake of copywriting catchiness we found a middle ground at 7 minutes.
Do you want to be less stressed, more productive and happier? Here are our three ways to start your morning off on the right foot, so that you can carry that positive energy and momentum into the rest of your day.
"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." Ben Franklin wasn’t the only one to endorse this idea, Oprah, Howard Schultz and Richard Branson, all accomplished human in their own right, get up before the sun rises.
The idea isn’t to create more time in your day to accomplish things, it is centered around creating time for yourself. More time without expectations, more time for reflection, more time to listen to your body without the clutter of the rest of the world constantly chirping in your ear. Use the time to capitalize on your unencumbered creativity, prioritize your to-do lists or just sip your coffee and watch the sunrise.
Eat a healthy breakfast:
For years you’ve been told to eat a healthy breakfast everyday, but in reality who has time to make a full meal when you’re trying to pack the kid’s lunches, get dressed, let the dog out and get to work before 9. You can do it, take 3 minutes before bed to make overnight oats or smoothie bags. Even better, make the breakfast bake and just reheat the squares for a quick portable meal. We also highly encourage you to start each breakfast off with a tall glass of warm water with lemon!
This can be different for everyone, meditation doesn’t have to involved hours of silently sitting and staring at a candle (but if that works for you do it!) It’s almost like a reboot for your brain. Some of the most successful people in the world cite meditation as one of the single most important ingredients for success. Meditation helps cultivate patience, mental clarity and reduces stress. Try taking just a few minutes every morning to jot down five things that you are grateful for in your life, just a simple reminder that you’re moving your life forward in the right direction… even when it doesn’t feel like it. And remember it is a practice so start with just 7 minutes a day and slowly increase when you feel comfortable.
You can also practice an active form of meditation in the kitchen and use your dinner prep time to calm your nerves and de-stress from your day. When chopping, dicing and stirring, take a second to just pause and focus solely on one thing. It’s fun once you get used to it.
Find simple ways to de-stress your life, whether it's utilizing our healthy meal plans and time saving grocery lists as much as you can, or maybe you hate cleaning so hiring someone to deep clean your house every once in awhile could be mentally refreshing for you.
